Emma’s Note to Mommy–Enjoy Every Moment

This is a note that Emma left for Melissa yesterday. She was in her room yesterday and was quiet for awhile. Now, I know what she was doing. 🙂 How cute is this? It is very touching to see how thoughtful she is and how much she loves her Mommy. The last 18 months has not only been rough on me but also on Emma. She has written more little notes and pictures like these to let Melissa know how much she loves her. With her Mommy traveling a lot(an understatement to say the least) during this time, Ema has acted out on occasion with Melissa. My personal feeling is that she is as frustrated as me with …Read more […..]

Emma Playing With Iphone Sent Out Vids of Herself!

Emma has gotten into using Apple’s Facetime Videochat which she uses to call her cousins and friends. It is awesome for her to be able to do this without needing a computer and I absolutely recommend it–you need an Apple Ipad, Iphone or Mac to use it though. Last night Emma was playing with Melissa’s Ipad and Iphone and recorded herself on video and then sent it to Melissa’s friend! Being that the phone is Melissa’s work phone it is a good thing that Emma didn’t send it to anyone else!   I think these videos are great because they show Emma in her own element without us being involved …Read more […..]

Stay At Home Dad Thoughts While Holding Emma’s Hand While Walking to School, Emma Does My Hair

Everyday, when I bring Emma to school, I park the car and actually get out of the car and walk her to the door–many lazy and overweight parents out there!. I have been doing so through the winter too, good thing we have had such a mild one! While we walk, Emma always holds my hand. This also applies to when I pick her up after school. There are several other stay at home dads and stay at home moms that do the same. We have not given in, rebels as we are,  to the school’s request that all kids take the bus. I recently got to thinking, as I often do, about holding my daughter’s little hand. …Read more […..]

Eye Dr Appt and Dentist Appt.

Emma has always been reluctant to warm up to strangers rapidly, unless they are younger, big girls. So, when we made appointments to see the dentist and the eye doctor for the first real exams that she would have, I was apprehensive. The dentist was relatively easy for me since I was in for a cleaning and was already being attended to when Emma and Melissa went into the room next to me. I heard everything that went on on Emma sure gave the hygenist a run for her money. Boy, was this woman patient! Emma would start to let her work and then stop her at the last minute. this bickering went back …Read more […..]

Whew! We Dodged a Bullet!

Well, last night we surely got lucky! We had to call the Poison Control Hotline two times and were up very late. Their number is 1-800-222-1222. Emma has had a cold off and on for almost two weeks, us too. She had been coughing badly ever since the weekend-3, yes 3 parties on Saturday?.. Before bed we gave her a Triaminic grape flavored nighttime cough and cold strip. this was about 930. I thinking that i should put the medicine in the cabinet but figured that I would be coming up soon and Emma was trustworthy-I had told her before that she should never take an medicine without us knowing …Read more […..]

The Big Boys! “Can I Tell You Something?” Privacy While in Bathroom..

Emma has become good friends with the boys down the street. There are 2 boys, Evan and Ethan, that are a year older than her as well as a boy, Nathan, that is a year younger then her. They live down the street and love to come to our cul-de-sac where they can ride their bikes, their motorized cars, and scooters with her. It is so funny to watch them playing because Emma leads the way with the puppy dog boys following along. When they are at their house and Emma is in our front yard, they are constantly yelling messages back and forth. The little guy, Nathan, is the most vocal and aggressive about …Read more […..]

First Experience With Bullying?

I can remember the kids who used to bully me around like it was yesterday. Of course, after we all grew up(the bullies all seemed to stop growing around 8th grade, ha!) and I became a police officer the tables turned for good. Anyway, today, like most days, Emma kept asking when we were going to leave for school–did this for 2 hours. When we finally went, she was very excited. As usual she washed her hands and kissed me goodbye and then ran over to the board where all the kids write their names. Emma was there with one of the boys and she began excitedly writing her name when 3 other girls, Hannah, …Read more […..]

Playing in the snow!

Let it snow!!!! Gone are the days when Emma was scared of the snow and would not want to walk in it! Now, she loves to go outside and walk in it and pick it up and throw it. Emma and I had fun putting on her snow pants and cool new snow boots in preparation for our venture into the white stuff. When we went outside she enjoyed making snow angels and trying to make snow blocks with the new snow block makers that we bought. Unfortunately, the snow was too fluffy to pack but it was still fun to try! It is times like these that this stay at home dad really appreciates the winter and the change …Read more […..]

I can Snap! I can Zip! My 1st Snowman!

A couple new accomplishments that Emma has made. She is now able to snap and zip! She is very happy that she is able to fasten her clothes as well as zip up her coat without having to ask for help. We recently had some good snow and Emma got to make her first snowman! Unlike the past when she didn’t like to play in the snow, she can’t get enough now! She enjoyed making a snowman as well as making snow angels all over the yard! Of course, Mommy & Daddy had to make their snow angels too! What fun!! Our little girl is growing up so fast!

Emma with Flu for a week, getting so good at Wii, Little, not Yittle, Wisconsin not consin

Emma was home sick all week and it was rough. It is times like these that I can really understand how much I appreciate the free time, little as it is, that I have when she is in preschool. She kept me busy and handled it really well. She watched TV, played with her dolls &  played her Wii. She is really getting very good at the Wii and I am impressed! Emma recently changed the way she says a couple words. Gone are the cute ways that she said them…She no longer says Yiddle but says little and she no longer calls Wisconsin Consin. So cute to see her growing up! …Read more […..]
