6 years old! Skip-Dancing Daddy!

Well, another year has passed and our little girl is now 6 years old! Wow! Where did the time go?!? I can’t believe that 6 years has went by so fast! Our little girl is growing up too fast! She is getting so smart and learning so much in kindergarten that I can hardly believe it! To celebrate her birthday, Emma was able to have 3 small parties. First, Emma had a Princess Party with her cousins and friends where the girls were dressed up like princesses and had lots of fun! Emma also had a small party at Nonnie and Poppie’s in Wisconsin. As is par for the course, Emma didn’t want …Read more […..]

Taking Emma to School—Priceless!

So, I am glad I went with my gut and didn’t listen to the naysayers who were telling me that Emma should take the bus to school because it would be good for her. Well, instead of the awesome pleasure of riding on a school bus, Emma is able to further bond with her Daddy! Which is the better option? Hmmmmm….. As we were walking the half block from the car to school today, I couldn’t help but think about this. I parked in the usual area and we walked holding hands as always past the crossing guard and to the school. It was a beautiful morning today and we talked as we always do about the exciting …Read more […..]

1st Day(half) of Kindergarten!

Well, the day finally arrived! After meeting with Emma’s new teacher yesterday for meet the Teacher Day, Emma had her 1st half day of school. Meeting her teacher yesterday relieved some of my anxieties as well as Emma’s since she got an awesome teacher! Her teacher is right up her alley–an energetic and fun sounding young woman. I also learned about the procedures that I will be participating in such as dropping off and picking up. I set my alarm for 7am but woke up on my own this morning at 6ish in anticipation of today. We let Emma sleep until Mommy went to work and Mommy woke her …Read more […..]

I often think about how fast time flies but it really hit home hard recently with the passing of my cat of 17+ years, Yoda. Emma brushing Yoda about a week before he died.                                                                   Me holding Yoda 1994 Seems like another completely different life when I got that cute little furball! I was single and lived in my own house all by myself …Read more […..]

The End of Preschool Already?!

It is with a strange feeling of sadness I feel when thinking about the Preschool Closing ceremony that was held tonight at Emma’s school. The ceremony was just incredible and great and all but I can’t believe that it is over!   It just seems like yesterday that I brought Emma to her 1st day of preschool(with a great deal of apprehension—I wrote about it in this blog HERE) when she was 3 almost 2 years ago. I also remember the difference when I dropped her off at the beginning of this school year that is ending tomorrow. I did so with a feeling …Read more […..]

Emma’s New Mustang! Stye on her Eye! Avery has a TV in her room-Can I have one in my room?

Emma received her own car for her 5th Birthday! Her aunts Lina and Mary bought her a new Barbie Mustang Powerwheels car! She really likes it and is becoming quite the driver! I like it too because it keeps her busy for a while although I am always on the watch making sure no cars are coming on the streets near our cul de sac as she zooms in a big circle around our driveway and part of the street. I still have to drill into her head the importance of always looking both ways before entering the street since we still have a bunch of cars coming down our small dead end street and making …Read more […..]

Playing in the snow!

Let it snow!!!! Gone are the days when Emma was scared of the snow and would not want to walk in it! Now, she loves to go outside and walk in it and pick it up and throw it. Emma and I had fun putting on her snow pants and cool new snow boots in preparation for our venture into the white stuff. When we went outside she enjoyed making snow angels and trying to make snow blocks with the new snow block makers that we bought. Unfortunately, the snow was too fluffy to pack but it was still fun to try! It is times like these that this stay at home dad really appreciates the winter and the change …Read more […..]

School Field Trips, Best Friend Avery, Reading Books to Herself

Emma experienced her preschool field trip and had fun! As you can see she was excited to go on the school bus as they were getting ready to leave. Of course, I had a bit of apprehension with her being out of my control and in other peoples’. This is something I will constantly struggle with as most parents probably do. Emma has gotten close to a classmate who has been a classmate for 2 years. She loves to play with Avery and they seem to be best friends. When I pick Emma up, however, they goof off a bit and I have to remind Emma to behave. Little stinker… Emma has gotten into a good …Read more […..]

Happy Halloween! Headstrong Little Stinker…

Halloween 2010 Halloween is always an awesome time here at our household and this year was great! Emma was Cinderella this year and  had her preschool party/costume parade which was very cute. And, of course, we had our annual Halloween party. This year, Emma understands better what the party is all about and she really enjoyed the awesome decorations and lights that we put up in the garage. She loved seeing her cousins all dressed up and she enjoyed taking pictures with our neighbor Carol who was dressed as a witch! Emma still loves(and hates) witches! In fact, Auntie Kathy left her …Read more […..]

1st Day of School! Coloring Like Crazy! Company Day At Great America!

What a difference a year makes! Emma couldn’t wait to go back to school! She got up and asked if she was going to school but I had to tell her that she will be going in the afternoons this year. I had none of the nervousness that I felt last year when she had her 1st day of school. None of the uneasiness that I felt as I drove her there and virtually none( maybe just a tad) of the guilt as I left her there….And, she was excited to be going back to school since she has the same teacher and is familiar with it. A plus this year is that she is in the afternoon class which means that we …Read more […..]
