The Only Stay At Home Dad Who Feels This Way?

Before beginning, I want to first say that I love my wife Melissa very much! She is truly the light of my life and I can’t imagine life without her. She is a very loving mother who loves our daughter Emma immensely. There is nothing both she and I would not do for our daughter and each other. For the last 8 years, while I have been pursuing entrepreneurial goals as well as being a stay at home dad, Melissa has shouldered the financial burden of our family(for more info on how we got to this point Click Here) and it has really been tough on her. Trying to balance an expanding career and family is …Read more […..]

Home Sick from School–Mommie gone until Friday, “Daddy, I Love You”

Well,  as if another business trip for 4 nights wasn’t bad enough, Emma was off school Monday for Easter Monday and then on Monday nite had a very bad case of the runs that occurred in the late hours of the night…:( She stayed home on Tuesday because her tummy was really bad for the entire day. She was afraid to eat and drink for fear it would keep happening so it was definitely a struggle to get her to drink anything. Her spirits were pretty good though and she took it with a grain of salt and humor. I used the situation to try to get her to eat bananas so the “icky diarrhea” wouldn’t …Read more […..]

Goal of Exercise, Wisconsin With Cousins,Emma Went Tubing! Coloring Addict, Knows Her Letters!

Throughout my life I exercised regularly for a variety of different reasons. When I was a kid I did it for self defense and self esteem. When I got older it was for looks and self esteem. When I became a Police Officer it was out of a sense of duty to keep myself in the best position possible to have the edge over the bad guys. Now, while I was recently looking at Emma I realized that my outlook on exercise has changed to become a duty and obligation to her so that I am around(God willing) for her for a very long time. I want to be able to fight off the hordes of boys/men that are sure to be …Read more […..]

1st Day of Preschool, I Love You Daddy, Florida Vacation–Chaos!

We recently had Emma’s preschool open house. It was cool to go see her school and be able to check out all the things that are there. Emma really liked the cars that they have and played with the cash register–ka-ching! We met her teacher again who is very nice, I think Emma likes her! That is a relief! I still can’t help feeling nervous about her starting preschool even if it is only a couple half days a week. My philosophy is let a kid enjoy being a kid as I remember many fond memories of playing with toys and using my imagination, etc… It seems there are way too many parents–One uppers– …Read more […..]

July 4th in Wisconsin, Talking to Poppie, The Italian Feast, 1st Penis Sighting, New Words–Good & Bad!

This 4th of July was a very nice one! We spent it at the lake house with Nonnie and poppy. Emma had a great time swimming and finding jewels in the water that the “mermaids” brought. Nonnie started the tradition of throwing little knick knack jewelry items into the water and claiming to the kids that mermaids brought them. This tradition has continued for almost 20 years now. The fireworks were very nice as usual. Emma loves watching fireworks–as long as the loud ones are far away…. We watched the town fireworks from our house across the lake and then the people around the lake started …Read more […..]

TV Commercial Filming Trip, You’re Not Going Away, Emma’s 1st Sleepover

A week after getting back from Disney World we went to Los Angeles. It was something we could not pass up–at least I couldn’t. Since my days as a child model for Spiegel, Sears, and others, I have had an itch to do something like that again. Last year, both Melissa and I were in a Sleep Number Bed commercial. A few weeks ago they contacted us and said that everyone remembers us and that they would like to fly us to California to shoot an infomercial. Well, we jumped at the chance… Emma & Walter (Foo-Foo) To be treated like a celebrity for a day was quite the experience. When we …Read more […..]

Megan & Chrissy! The Witch! Tigger & Pooh! My Name!

So, we just returned from our 2nd trip to Orlando and Disney World. We got to stay with Emma’s uncle Mark, aunt Tina, and her cousins Chrissy and Megan. It was a very fun time watching Emma with her 2 cousins. They played well together, in general. There were some pushing incidents throughout the trip with a sort of power struggle going on. Nothing serious but we got to see a “bully” side of Emma that I have never seen before. When we got home, Emma kept talking about them and how she wants to go back to “Mark’s house.” We had lots of fun at Disney World…again. Emma got to see “The Witch” …Read more […..]

Horsies, Sleepover with Taylor, The “Scooter”, I Can Walk! NC Vacation Pics

The other day i brought Emma to my sister Kimmy’s place to pick up Nonnie. Emma was excited to go there because she knew her cousin Taylor, age 5, would be there. Emma got to see their 9 pet bunnies (buddies) and also the 3 horses that they have on their property. Emma likes riding her little rocking horses and likes to see horses on TV. Boy did she like to see them in person! She even got to pet them! The big Momma horse even did some horse talk for us. Emma got a bonus when my cousin Diane came by with her daughter Adell (Dell). The 3 girls went walking in the mud and went in the stable …Read more […..]

Orlando Trip, Fifi & Lala, Mickey & Minnie! The Witch!

We have been away for a bit on a trip to Orlando, Florida. The primary reason for the trip was for Melissa’s convention. Dada and Emma tagged along, along with Nonnie for assistance. Now, the choice was for Melissa to go on her own with the consequence being Emma not seeing her Mama for a week. With recent experiences of Emma being away from Melissa for 2 or 3 nights and the consequences of such, we decided that Dada and Nonnie would tag along. Daddy was able to re-arrange his schedule and off we went! Emma was able to see her cousin Lala(Lauren) and her auntie FiFi(Krissy). She last saw …Read more […..]

Wisconsin Dells, New Words & Sayings, Favorite Movie

We had a recent trip to the Wisconsin Dells. Emma got to hang out with her buddy Alesha as well as Alesha’s big sister Brittany. Emma enjoyed the waterparks but was a bit overwhelmed by all the wild kids splashing and the noise. We went to a quiet area and Emma was right at home going in and out of the water. I took these pictures while we were there. Emma has been picking up all of our sayings and is surprising us at random times by saying them. Here are some of them….. “Wait a minute” “I got it” “OK” “My favorite” And…My Favorite: “Hey Ken!” Yes, she heard …Read more […..]
