Emma Playing With Iphone Sent Out Vids of Herself!

Emma has gotten into using Apple’s Facetime Videochat which she uses to call her cousins and friends. It is awesome for her to be able to do this without needing a computer and I absolutely recommend it–you need an Apple Ipad, Iphone or Mac to use it though. Last night Emma was playing with Melissa’s Ipad and Iphone and recorded herself on video and then sent it to Melissa’s friend! Being that the phone is Melissa’s work phone it is a good thing that Emma didn’t send it to anyone else!   I think these videos are great because they show Emma in her own element without us being involved …Read more […..]

This Stay At Home Dad Needs to Get Going!

For the last year or so I have taken my eye off the ball of what is really important. It is a very subtle thing, the ability to take attention off what is truly important even when you think that you are not doing so. There are numerous factors that have made this happen and I blame only myself. Melissa and I have made some questionable decisions over the years but things have been very good for us–at least everyone around us would think so. I have always said that time flies, even when I was a young 19 year old I often looked back and thought “Where did the time go?” This feeling is always …Read more […..]

Bye Bye Yoda, Daddy Will You Stay Here with Me Forever?, Wisconsin for 9 Days!, VBS

I often think about how fast time flies but it really hit home hard recently with the passing of my cat of 17+ years, Yoda. Emma brushing Yoda about a week before he died.                                                                   Me holding Yoda 1994 Seems like another completely different life when I got that cute little furball! I was single and lived in my own house all by myself until I got him. He was a constant companion and I brought him everywhere in those early days. He was a playful and energetic cat …Read more […..]

Christmas Singing! Christmas Play, Emma as “Mary”,First Trip to Dentist, Addicted to Wii

Emma’s preschool class had their Christmas presentation for us parents and did they do a great job! Besides the Christmas show the class had a Christmas play for the class parents. Emma had the honor of being Mary. How cute!! This school does such a good job! This was a short show for us parents in the daytime. As the others, it was really cool! Emma had her first trip to the dentist which resulted in her watching Mom getting her teeth cleaned and a short look into Emma’s mouth. It was really to get her used to the atmosphere so that in the future she wouldn’t be …Read more […..]

Oh Nooooooo, Santa! More Parties! Choo Choo Train

When something goes wrong, even something very minor, Emma has recently been saying, “Ohhhh Nooooooo…..” It is funny how she says it. She says it in an exaggerated manner as if she is overly concerned–too funny! We went to 3 Christmas parties over the weekend, all on Saturday. The first party was a company family Christmas event that featured many attractions such as elves that painted faces and made cool candy cane balloons, crafts, karaoke, a train ride, and, of course, Santa Claus! Now, last year Emma was deathly afraid of Santa and cried when Melissa brought her by him. This year Emma …Read more […..]

Brushing Teeth/Washing Hands, “Loved Ones” Too Busy for Emma?! Halloween & Leaves!

Emma has been brushing her teeth by herself for quite a while now. It started out with her just eating the toothpaste because it tastes so good. It has evolved to where she really scrubs the bottom teeth–hasn’t perfected the top teeth yet. She has been encouraged by me stating that she needs to “get the germs off her teeth.” It seems that even though she doesn’t really know what germs are and hasn’t seen them she doesn’t want them on her. This works for her letting us wash her face and hands too. During the last month or so–after observing her cousins Chrissy & Megan– she has been standing …Read more […..]

“My Feet are Dancing!”, “Don’t be Silly”, “The Baby is Older”, “Let me Touch Your Hair”, Friends!

We have exposed Emma to music since she was a little baby. Hmmmm, wonder if she will like ’80s music when she is older–ha….. I like to dance with her as often as possible. not only will she see her Daddy having fun dancing at his old age but she will get more practice and enjoy it even more. Sometimes, when the music is on and Emma is listening to it, she will say, “Look, my feet are dancing” and show me how her feet are bouncing to the beat. She loves to dance as it is lots of fun! Another funny saying that she has is “Don’t be silly.” She says this to both Mommy and I and just shows …Read more […..]

TV Commercial Filming Trip, You’re Not Going Away, Emma’s 1st Sleepover

A week after getting back from Disney World we went to Los Angeles. It was something we could not pass up–at least I couldn’t. Since my days as a child model for Spiegel, Sears, and others, I have had an itch to do something like that again. Last year, both Melissa and I were in a Sleep Number Bed commercial. A few weeks ago they contacted us and said that everyone remembers us and that they would like to fly us to California to shoot an infomercial. Well, we jumped at the chance… Emma & Walter (Foo-Foo) To be treated like a celebrity for a day was quite the experience. When we …Read more […..]

Hook, I Want to Be Safe, Let’s Talk for Awhile, Maybe I’m Little & Maybe I’m Big, Zoo

Funny how Emma has changed regarding what she likes to watch on TV. Gone are the days when she would watch Wonderpets, The Wiggles, The Doodlebops, and Jay Jay the Jet Plane. In are the days of Monsters Inc., Cars, Shrek, Nemo, Ariel, and for the last week or so Peter Pan. Emma has had a fascination with Captain Hook(Hook) since she saw him at the Disney World live show last April. She was afraid to go by the statue that is at Navy Pier. She just started watching Peter Pan and I have to say that it brings back memories for me. I had forgotten what it was all about but watching it again brought …Read more […..]
