Eye Dr Appt and Dentist Appt.

Emma has always been reluctant to warm up to strangers rapidly, unless they are younger, big girls. So, when we made appointments to see the dentist and the eye doctor for the first real exams that she would have, I was apprehensive. The dentist was relatively easy for me since I was in for a cleaning and was already being attended to when Emma and Melissa went into the room next to me. I heard everything that went on on Emma sure gave the hygenist a run for her money. Boy, was this woman patient! Emma would start to let her work and then stop her at the last minute. this bickering went back …Read more […..]

Whew! We Dodged a Bullet!

Well, last night we surely got lucky! We had to call the Poison Control Hotline two times and were up very late. Their number is 1-800-222-1222. Emma has had a cold off and on for almost two weeks, us too. She had been coughing badly ever since the weekend-3, yes 3 parties on Saturday?.. Before bed we gave her a Triaminic grape flavored nighttime cough and cold strip. this was about 930. I thinking that i should put the medicine in the cabinet but figured that I would be coming up soon and Emma was trustworthy-I had told her before that she should never take an medicine without us knowing …Read more […..]

Home Sick from School–Mommie gone until Friday, “Daddy, I Love You”

Well,  as if another business trip for 4 nights wasn’t bad enough, Emma was off school Monday for Easter Monday and then on Monday nite had a very bad case of the runs that occurred in the late hours of the night…:( She stayed home on Tuesday because her tummy was really bad for the entire day. She was afraid to eat and drink for fear it would keep happening so it was definitely a struggle to get her to drink anything. Her spirits were pretty good though and she took it with a grain of salt and humor. I used the situation to try to get her to eat bananas so the “icky diarrhea” wouldn’t …Read more […..]

Emma with Flu for a week, getting so good at Wii, Little, not Yittle, Wisconsin not consin

Emma was home sick all week and it was rough. It is times like these that I can really understand how much I appreciate the free time, little as it is, that I have when she is in preschool. She kept me busy and handled it really well. She watched TV, played with her dolls &  played her Wii. She is really getting very good at the Wii and I am impressed! Emma recently changed the way she says a couple words. Gone are the cute ways that she said them…She no longer says Yiddle but says little and she no longer calls Wisconsin Consin. So cute to see her growing up! …Read more […..]

Sick, Help!!! Mama’s Shoes, Potty Chairs!

For those of you that have regular assistance with the care of your child, count your blessings! Do not take that for granted. For the week following Emma’s birthday party this Stay at Home Dad had the Flu/Walking Pneumonia. Taking care of a 2 year old under these conditions is, well, a monumental challenge, at least for me! For the last two years I wondered what I would do if I got sick and had to take care of Emma. Since I used to get sick every October and March like clockwork this was on my mind during those times of year. Emma’s hemangioma trained us to wash our hands constantly since the …Read more […..]

Favorite New Movies, Some Firsts, Fireworks!

Emma has a few favorite, and I use this term loosely as she is addicted to them, new movies. The first is Finding Nemo. For about a week she wanted to watch it everyday and usually requested it 2 to 3 times a day! The second is Shrek the Third. She loves the little Shrek babies, the Spanish walking cat, and Hook, the pirate with the hook hand. The third, and recently the new addiction, is Cars. She loves the cars going fast and especially loves the train and trucks. Emma had some firsts recently. The first one was her first booboo. She fell down and got a good scrape on top of her foot. …Read more […..]

2nd Bday Party! Happy! Look What I Can Do! Sick…:(

Emma turned 2 on March 27th! Her 2nd birthday was very nice even though Melissa and I were under the weather. We had a pretty good turnout for the party. Melissa’s entire family, both sides, showed up as they usually do. 1 Cousin and 2 aunts could not make it. Even her 2 grandmothers, one 88 and virtually deaf and hardly able to walk, and the other 96 and suffering from Alzheimers made it. They are true to their family and it is admirable. My parents, 2 sisters and families, and some members of my “new” family came. My “new” family is also very true to their family! They …Read more […..]

What the heck is a Hemangioma??

One of the most unimaginable things that can happen is a potentially serious medical diagnosis from your baby’s doctor. I never knew just how true this is until it happened to us. Approximately 2 months after Emma was born we noticed that the tip of her nose was turning a blueish color and getting bigger. At first we thought it was the lighting conditions or our imagination. As the days went by it got worse. The skin was definitely stretching and her nose was getting darker and rounder. We went to the pediatrician who stated that it was probably a hemangioma. A what?!?Although this doctor …Read more […..]

Go, Hello, Emma Under the Weather, New Family

Us at the “union party” with most of my new family The last couple of days have brought a couple new words. Nonnie had Emma and her cousin Taylor for a couple days. They played some kind of game where the word Go is used. Emma now says “Go” to me. Not sure if she wants me to get out of here but she likes saying it. Today, I got home and Nonnie said to watch Emma. She gave her the pretend phone and Emma put it to her ear and said “Hello”. She showed Mommie when she got home. Too funny! Emma is under the weather with a cold. It is very stressful. Especially when I tried to get her to sleep …Read more […..]
