Caged Lion
Home Sick from School–Mommie gone until Friday, “Daddy, I Love You”
Well, as if another business trip for 4 nights wasn’t bad enough, Emma was off school Monday for Easter Monday and then on Monday nite had a very bad case of the runs that occurred in the late hours of the night…:( She stayed home on Tuesday because her tummy was really bad for the entire day. She was afraid to eat and drink for fear it would keep happening so it was definitely a struggle to get her to drink anything. Her spirits were pretty good though and she took it with a grain of salt and humor. I used the situation to try to get her to eat bananas so the “icky diarrhea” wouldn’t …Read more […..]
Da Beet! Dance, Dance, Dance, Am I “Gay
One of the cutest sayings that Emma has been using is Da Beet! She calls her feet beet. LOl. When I ask her if she wants her socks on she says Da Beet! Emma is a dancing fool just like me! I know I am no Fred Astaire but at least I try to show her how to do it! She loves to start one of the many, many, toys she has that plays music. She then proceeds to twirl around and around. Its the funny thing she does with her eyes that takes the cake. She keeps her eyes looking in the opposite direction that she is spinning. If she is spinning clockwise then her eyes are are looking all the way counter …Read more […..]
Women Are Wired Differently
This is an article reprinted from another blog, http://simplefather.com, that “validates” my feeling that women and men are naturally different(in general)in respect to children, etc… This guy works full-time and his wife stays home with their two daughters but after a day with the girls he realizes what stay at home parents go through everyday, every week, every month, every year…. Although it has been a blessing, I have struggled to maintain my manly “lion in a cage” feeling during the last few years while staying home with my little beauty Emma. I had the pleasure of watching the girls …Read more […..]
Health Club, Comments on Kids’ Amazement
I have always worked out and exercised but the last couple years have brought a change to my workouts. Instead of lifting weights and playing basketball I find myself walking a lot, riding my bike with Emma on board, and generally chasing her around, etc…. I recently brought her to the health club and had her stay in the child care area. The first time I stayed with her for a while then snuck out for 20 minutes as she played with all the new toys. The second time I brought her I left her while I worked out. I made the mistake of trying to peek in on her before taking a shower to make sure …Read more […..]
Birthday Party, Lion Returns, Thoughts on Sitters & Lack Thereof
Yesterday we went to Taylor’s birthday party. It was great because Emma got to not only see her cousin but was able to touch and attempt to hold some bunnies(bundies). I’ve added several pics of her feeding the bunnies hay. She has always loved bunnies, especially the Easter Bunny who she gets to see in person every year! The last week has been a definite challenge for me as I have felt antsy and anxious. I call it the lion in a cage feeling. I am not sure that anyone can relate to this but I have a feeling that Dads that stay at home definitely could. I believe that men are not naturally …Read more […..]
Caged Lion Reappears, Sleep?, High Heels, Why? OK! Peanut Butter!
I have written about the feeling that I sometimes get while being home with Emma. It has nothing to do with Emma and is absolutely all about me. I have called the feeling that of a caged lion. Well, that cat was back last week in a bad way. I am not sure if mothers who stay at home get this feeling. I am not sure if it is because I have always worked, done my own thing, got married at age 35, had freedom, or whatever but I know it is something I have had to deal with the last couple years. This feeling is one that is unsettling to say the least. I feel guilty feeling it because in some way …Read more […..]
High Heels, ShiffBeeAhhDee, No! No! Yoda, Go Dada! Caged Lion
In the morning, Emma sometimes likes to play in our room for awhile before we go downstairs. She loves to go in our bathroom and look in the bathtub while playing with her bath toys. In fact, sometimes when she gets up in the morning, she opens her bedroom door and goes straight into our bathroom to do this. She will play for awhile before going to the hallway where the gate is and stand there and yell, “Dada, Daddy!” or, if Melissa is home, “Momma!” She likes to put Melissa’s slippers on her feet(beet) and walk around in them. The other day she came walking up to me wearing Mama’s High heels! …Read more […..]
